Living in your Calendar is better than living in your Inbox

A lot of people, including me for many years, live in their inbox. What turns up in it determines the priorities for the day. The length of it indicates the backlog. Replying to and sending emails forms a big part of the day.

It isn't a bad idea. You have to check them whatever you do, and having a neat list of what you should be doing is very comforting and at the very least keeps you busy.

But it makes a lot more sense to live in your calendar. For a start, you have a constant visual reminder of the time you have available and how it is seeping away. You can prioritise stuff according to the time of day it makes most sense to undertake them.

So I basically live in my calendar. I have recurring events set up for things that need doing. I forward emails to my calendar directly, or link them to documents relating to projects on my calendar. It works much better.
